The millions were rolling in last year for the creator of that foul-mouthed mammy, Agnes Browne, Brendan O’Carroll.

This follows separate accounts from two O’Carroll firms filed with the Companies Office showing the combined cash pile last year rocketed from €137,277 to a whopping €4.3 million.

The accounts lodged by O’Carroll’s Mrs Brown’s Boys Ltd and Boc-Pix Ltd, show that combined profits also rose sharply on the strength of the comedy phenomenon of Mrs Brown.

Pre-tax profits at Boc-Pic Ltd increased more than ten fold during the year, going from €109,023 to €1.337m.

This followed revenues at the firm in the 12 months to the end of August 2013 more than doubling from €1.039m to €2.623m.

At the same time the cash pile at that firm increased from €60,111 to €1.139m. Accumulated profits at Boc-Pix Ltd — which describes its main activity as film production — increased nine fold going from €155,448 to €1.48m.

The picture is as rosy at O’Carroll’s sister firm, Mrs Brown’s Boys Ltd where accumulated profits increased by just under €1m, going from €1.37m to €2.30m in the 12 months to the end of December last.

During the same period, the firm’s cash pile increased from €77,166 to €2.969m.

The figures show that Mrs Brown’s Boys Ltd owed €596,177 to directors, Mr O’Carroll and his wife, Jennifer Gibney.

Underlining the impressive performance by Mrs Brown’s Boys Ltd last year, at December last the firm owed €397,777 in corporation tax compared to €121,473 the previous year.
