Pernod Ricard to cut 900 jobs globally

The world’s second-largest distiller, Pernod Ricard yesterday announced plans to cut 900 jobs with approximately 35 Irish employees having left its Irish business, Irish Distillers, already this year.

A programme of voluntary redundancies was introduced at Irish Distillers, which employs 600 people here, as part of a cost-saving programme known as Project Allegro.

The company’s global net profit declined by 14% to €1.03bn in the year, compared to €1.19bn in 2013.
