EU finance ministers are struggling to find a compromise that will allow them complete the final piece in the banking union.

Following two days of meetings they eventually agreed a small number of compromises that they can make to the European Parliament who need to agree to the final text.

The member states battled among themselves to decide on first the architecture of winding up or rescuing failing banks and then how the process would be funded.
