Patents drag down manufacturing sector

Despite some positivity about the economy the manufacturing sector is set to post a decline in output as the pharmaceutical sector continues to drag down overall figures.

The CSO said production in manufacturing industries for October was 12.1% lower than in September.

The modern sector, which is made up of the chemicals and pharmaceuticals, was down nearly 17% mainly due to the expiration of patents.
