Person jailed for three years in unregistered auditor case

One person was jailed in 2012 for three years in an unregistered auditor prosecution brought by the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement (ODCE).

That is according to the annual report on the Companies Registration Office which records that last year it was notified of 33 cases, involving 58 companies, where the individual auditor or audit firm whose name was on the auditor’s report stated that they did not carry out the audit.

The report says the Companies Registration Office reports all unregistered auditor cases to the ODCE “and during 2012, ODCE successfully prosecuted several such cases”.
