Domino’s Pizza enjoys 5.1% sales rise
June was the sixth consecutive month that Domino’s saw like-for-like sales growth in its Irish operations.
Despite the tough retail environment and low consumer confidence here in recent times, Domino’s management has maintained its positive outlook regarding Ireland, suggesting the company is here for the long haul.
It has previously hailed the “tenacity” of its Irish franchisees, noting that competitors have suffered more in the challenging environment. The firm has 48 franchised outlets in the Republic.
The second quarter figures boosted Domino’s Irish like-for-like sales growth — for the first half of the year — to 6.5%. In the first half of last year, the Irish operation saw like-for-like sales growth of 2.9%, in comparison.
In its core market of the UK — as well as here, Domino’s Europe operates in Germany and Switzerland — the firm saw second quarter sales grow by just under 12%, year-on-year, to £147.6m.
Company CEO Lance Batchelor said the overall results were very pleasing.
