It was a quiet day across European markets, a lack of drivers on US public holiday and only half a day’s trading today being the main cause.

Shares in Dublin continue to inch ahead, positive news coming from the NTMA who told a Dáil committee that Ireland was on course to return to the debt markets soon. The ISEQ closed up 9.02 points to finish on 3,252.02

A good day for the financial sector saw AIB and Permanent TSB both slightly ahead, the former closing on 5.1c, up 0.1c and the latter gaining the same amount to finish on 2.2c. Bank of Ireland was flat on the day, closing on 9.7c. While insurer FBD Holdings continued its good run adding a further 5c to close on €9.95.
