Stop putting strict deadlines on vital farming activities, says ICSA

Imposing strict deadlines and closing dates on vital farming activities must stop, said Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers’ Association president Gabriel Gilmartin.

The ICSA leader said the recent weather had shown that the concept of farming by calendar dates is a “nonsense”. He was speaking at a winter fodder crisis meeting organised by ICSA in Dunmanway.

Mr Gilmartin said that the condition of land as a result of the huge rainfall levels seen in the past few months has brought this issue to the forefront.
