Eliminate waste to avoid extra tax

It’s that time of year again, when the upcoming budget starts to gain traction.

Eliminate waste to avoid extra tax

While we had expected difficult budgets over the last few years, this year promises to be one of the more difficult ones. The main reason is that our Government has decided that a property tax will be imposed, although the Bogeyman, the troika, gets the blame.

Unfortunately, the Government is very vague about the terms of such an imposition and even on how it will be based. It has determined that the money will be collected by the Revenue Commissioners. On that front, they have learned a lesson from the household charge which caused outrage but only amounted to €100 per household. This tax promises to be many multiples of that.
