Work begins on Thames windfarm
Being built in a partnership between Dong Energy, E.ON, and Abu Dhabi-based Masdar, when completed the windfarm will increase Britain’s wind power resource more than tenfold.
Britain, which has more than 1,500mw of offshore wind, plans to increase capacity to 18,000mw by 2020 in a bid to meet rising energy demand without adding emissions.
Numerous companies will contribute their expertise to the project.
Dawson Energy, which is part of the 3sun group, is one of those firms.
3sun group managing director Graham Hacon said: “We have built a reputation for having highly-skilled, competent staff who work to accredited quality, health and safety standards and deliver projects on time and within budget.
“As a result, our work in the renewables sector has reached record levels and we anticipate continued growth in future years.
“These contracts were secured through our relationship with Siemens, our biggest client,” Hacon added.
