Market regains some lost ground

Irish shares regained some of their recent losses yesterday as fears over the Spanish economy eased slightly on the back of improved demand for that country’s most recent bond auction.

The ISEQ index picked up 46.55 points to finish at 3,222.64.

The financials were mixed on the day as AIB and Irish Life & Permanent lost ground. The former dropped 0.5c to 7c, while the latter also slipped 0.5c to 3c. Bank of Ireland was the only listed Irish bank to make a gain, up 0.7c to 10.7c. Insurer FBD Holdings gained 6.5c to €8.61.
