Also titled Bia na Mí, the event promises to show what the county has to offer in terms of food production and processing.

Food businesses of all sizes are participating — from start-up bakery businesses to large scale producers who are exporting worldwide.

Launching the event, Shane McEntee, the junior agriculture minister, said: “I have seen this concept developing in other counties and believe the time is right for Meath to move in this direction also.

“I look forward to seeing new business develop from Bia na Mí, the first step towards a sustainable food hub in Co Meath.”

The event is supported by Meath County Council with the involvement of Meath Partnership, Meath Tourism, Kells Chambers of Commerce, and Bord Bia.

The showcase takes place in the Headfort Arms Hotel in Kells from 3pm–9pm on May 3. Entry is free.
