Markets slip across Europe

The market was slightly off yesterday as European bourses saw mild declines across the board, giving back some gains made in the previous session as a result of better-than-expected macroeconomic data from China, the US and Britain. The ISEQ index shed 23.09 points to finish at 3,267.76.

Financials were mixed with AIB and Irish Life & Permanent both making ground, the former added 0.1c to 9.1c while the latter moved on 0.3c to 4.3c. Bank of Ireland gave up 0.4c to 11.8c. Insurer FBD Holdings remained steady at €9.00.

Constructions stocks were also mixed. However, market heavyweight CRH was a significant laggard, down 48c to €15.15. Grafton Group and Kingspan both made minor headway, adding 1c and 3c respectively to end the day at €3.18 and €7.78.
