Farmers are being asked to apply for the 2012 Disadvantaged Area Scheme without access to terms and conditions, ICMSA president John Comer has said.

The dairy group leader has called on Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney to immediately publish the scheme’s exact terms and conditions so that farmers can submit their applications with the full knowledge of its requirements.

With only six weeks to the closing date, Mr Comer described the situation as “absolutely ridiculous”, in as much as the department is asking farmers to apply early for their SFP/Disadvantaged Area Scheme in order to speed up processing, a move which he describes as “making perfect sense”.
