6,000 farmers expected to get €975 each under dairy efficiency scheme

Around 6,000 farmers are expected to qualify for payments of €975 each under the newly released Dairy Efficiency Programme.

In the second year of the programme, Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney said that participation in would prove hugely beneficial for the individual farmers and for the dairy sector as a whole.

“Research has shown that participation in discussion groups has a real and tangible benefit for farmers, with Teagasc measuring this as equivalent to an increase of between one and two cent per litre,” said Mr Coveney.
