THE ISEQ index started the trading week with a loss of 2.43 points to close at 2,694.68.

New governments in Italy and Greece failed to allay fears about the eurozone debt crisis, with Italy paying a record 6.29% yield to sell five-year bonds yesterday, and the euro falling against the dollar.

In the financial sector, Bank of Ireland remained at 8.7c. AIB was unchanged at 8.2c. Irish Life & Permanent held at 3.1c, while insurance group FBD Holdings added 10c to €6.30.
