Egypt reopens live cattle market

Dublin: IFA president John Bryan has welcomed the reopening of the Egyptian market to live cattle for the first time since the 1990s — a market worth a potential €100m if Irish exports were to reach their volumes of 20 years ago.

He said agreement had been reached on a veterinary certificate between the Irish and Egyptian authorities for cattle up to 30 months of age for finishing, and up to 20 months for further fattening.
