THE ISEQ index slipped further into negative territory yesterday, to close down 20.06 points at 2,429.94.

US stocks extended losses after the eagerly-awaited speech by US Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke said that the economic recovery was much less robust than hoped.

In the financial sector, Bank of Ireland was unchanged at 8.6c, AIB dipped 0.7c to 4.5c, Irish Life & Permanent added 0.6c to 3.5c, while insurance group FBD Holdings advanced 44.6c to 6.599.
