World markets again decline

THE ISEQ index fell a further 34.87 points yesterday to close at 2,419.77.

World markets again decline

European and world shares were again weaker as recession and European bank funding continue to concern investors. Soaring costs for borrowing dollars to fund the daily business of Europe‘s banks is hitting shares and increasing worries that the continent‘s debt problems could trigger the next funding crisis for lenders.

In the financial sector, Bank of Ireland added 0.1c to 9.2c. AIB slipped 1.1c to 5.6c, while Irish Life & Permanent closed up 0.3c at 3.3c.
