World markets weaker after report

THE ISEQ index ended the week with a loss of 24.60 points to 2,943.53. World markets were notably weaker after the latest US jobs report. June's payrolls fell a long way short of expectations and dampened hopes that the economic recovery had regained speed.

World markets weaker after report

In the financial sector, Bank of Ireland gained 0.1c to 11.6c. AIB decreased 1c to 12c. Irish Life & Permanent shed 0.4c to 4.1c, while insurance group FBD Holdings declined 7c to 6.83.

In other news, Dragon Oil fell 8c to 6.10. Paddy Power gave up 57c to 37.43, while Smurfit Kappa dipped 7.5c to 8.395.
