THERE was rare praise yesterday for the way Irish governments ran the country over the past few years from eurozone president Jean Claude Juncker.

Ireland was very carefully separated from the travails of Greece, Portugal and Spain in a debate with MEPs in the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

He and Commissioner Olli Rehn said that debt rescheduling was on the cards, meaning Greece could be given a longer time than the current seven years to pay back its loans.
