IFA: Agri-food exports growing 3 times faster than any other sector

FUNDS for the Government’s jobs strategy should be focused on maximising employment in agri-food exports which are growing three times faster than any other sector, according to the Irish Farmers Association (IFA).

IFA president John Bryan said: “Export figures for early 2011 show that, as with 2010, the agri-food and drinks sector is outperforming the general economy.

“While Irish exports have risen by 6% in the first two months of the year, food and drink exports have increased by 18%.”
