THE ISEQ started the week with a gain of 10.24 points yesterday to 2,952.28.

Market makes modest start to week

European shares edged up to a three-week high with telecoms giant Vodafone rising after a major disposal, though strategists said an expected eurozone interest rate rise could cap further gains in the months ahead.

In the financial sector, AIB added 2c to 23c. Bank of Ireland added 2.9c to 34c. Irish Life & Permanent fell 4.1c to 12.6c, while insurance company FBD Holdings progressed 5c to €7.40.
