LinkedIn expands with 100 Irish jobs

THE world’s largest social network for professionals has marked its first Ireland anniversary by announcing plans to bring 100 jobs to the country.

LinkedIn expands with 100 Irish jobs

LinkedIn, which has more than 100 million members across the globe, has confirmed it is seeking new employees in sales, business development and marketing, among others, over the next 12 months.

At a meeting with Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton, later today, it will reveal the posts are to become available by March 2012 — with 15 positions open immediately.

Since opening its Dublin branch at Sir John Rogerson’s Quay exactly a year ago, LinkedIn has increased its staff levels by 70 and its overall global membership by 40 million.

The company’s international human resources director, Connie Gibney, said the move underlined how, despite the economic crisis, Ireland is still at the heart of internet development.

“Ireland is increasingly one of the world’s centres of talented people with international language skills and experience in working for fast-growing internet companies. This makes it the ideal place from which to support our continuing growth in Europe and further abroad,” she said.

One million new members join LinkedIn every seven days.

Mr Bruton said the jobs announcement is “an excellent addition to the thriving digital media industry operating from Ireland”.
