Receiver to be appointed at Ellickson

A RECEIVER will be appointed today to Waterford firm Ellickson Engineering, which ceased trading last week.

Receiver to be appointed at Ellickson

Pat Kavanagh of the Technical Engineering and Electrical Union (TEEU) said staff were informed of the situation by a one-line email from the company and have to date not meet with the more than 60 staff affected.

Fears have been growing for the jobs over the past week as there were signals from the company that an examiner may have to be appointed.

However, it was confirmed by the company it would be a receiver.

Mr Kavanagh said staff were hoping to learn if it would be a trading receivership and that there would be a future for the firm which hasa plant in Waterford and a Dublin office.

“I met with more than 60 staff members at the gate of the plant this morning. They really have been hung out to dry as they have not been kept informed as to what is going on. Now at least they have this in writing they can go and sign-on.”

He said that staff were “very distressed” by the unfolding events but hoped the receiver would meet with them and shed some light on the situation.

Mr Kavanagh, who represents about 40 staff members in Waterford, said that including management they could be up to 80 staff members.

The Ellickson Engineering plant, which supplies commercial and industrial doors, loading bays and lifts, was established at Kilmurry, Waterford, in 1969.
