CUSTOMERS cut back on their grocery shopping last month with the sale of own-brand products rising by 4.5%.

This is in contrast to a 0.4% growth in branded goods as shoppers were hit by the twin realities of budget and wage cuts.

The latest grocery market figures from Kantar Worldpanel in Ireland for the 12 weeks ending January 23, show that value remains at the top of shoppers’ agenda.
