THE country’s longest established accountancy body has published a discussion paper on the Future of the Statutory Audit.

Its aim is to contribute to and stimulate debate on whether the scope and role of audit should be changed to meet more complex times.

It has identified a number of possible alternatives to make accounts more understandable and sets out options for improving communication between auditors, boards and shareholders.
