Milk prices to remain strong in the medium term, predicts expert

DAIRY farmers can expect to see milk prices remain strong in the medium term, according to Rabobank senior dairy analyst Marina Rebello.

Ms Rebello told yesterday’s packed Teagasc National Dairy Conference in Mullingar, Co Westmeath, that strong demand for milk in Russia, China and India was helping to keep milk prices strong. Without this eastern demand, however, higher prices are less certain.

Recent Rabobank reports predict prices of 25c to 26c per litre for the short to medium future.
