Irish equity turnover falls 12.8%

THE value of Irish shares traded during the first nine months of this year fell just under 13% to €35.5 billion, on a year-on-year basis, according to the latest quarterly data review from the Irish Stock Exchange (ISE).

According to the latest market statistical review from the ISE, equity turnover was down to €35.5bn – a 12.8% annualised reverse – during the nine-month period to the end of September.

The review showed that actual trading volumes were also down significantly. In the third quarter alone 461,512 share trades relating to Irish-quoted stocks were carried out. That meant that the average daily number of trades at 6,993 was down by over 24% year-on-year.
