‘Model farmer’ and Sligo IFA chairman Billy Somerville dies

THE untimely passing of the chairman of Sligo IFA Billy Somerville came as a great shock, said IFA president John Bryan.

“On behalf of the association, I want to offer my condolences to his wife Barbara and his children David and Isabel,” said the IFA leader.

Mr Bryan added: “Billy Somerville was one of nature’s true gentleman. He had a long history of active involvement in IFA, working selflessly to advance the interests of farmers in Sligo. He was a model dairy and beef farmer who specialised in the rearing of the rare breed Dexter cattle.
