10% fall in Aer Lingus traveller numbers

PASSENGER numbers at Aer Lingus were down almost 10% last month as the airline cancelled flights on 11 days because of the volcanic ash.

The airline’s shares fell almost 3% yesterday to close at 70 cent after it announced short-haul numbers were down 9.6% and long-haul fell 12.2%.

Load factors, which measure the percentage of seats filled, were up 5.6% to 79.3%.
