A LEADING economist has warned that there will be no sharp recovery in economic conditions, despite improvement in the mood of consumers.

The KBC Ireland/ESRI consumer sentiment index recorded its strongest reading in over two years last month rising to 65.6, up from 61.9 in March.

Although it is an improvement on its all-time low in July 2008 of 39.6 it is still well below the 91.4 average for the 14-year history of the survey.
