THE ISEQ index slipped 11.9 points to 3,147.51 yesterday.

Market down after earlier gains

The index was lower after Tuesday’s gains while a ratings downgrade to Portugal’s sovereign debt also left investors nervous.

The main financials had a solid day. AIB progressed 10c to €1.69. Bank of Ireland gained 6c to €1.38. Irish Life & Permanent dipped 3c to €3.07, while insurance company FBD Holdings closed up 8c at €6.85.
