EIRCOM is not anticipating making any further job cuts – beyond those already announced – despite the company warning that it will need to make more cost reductions following a tough half year which saw profits dip by 3% and revenue fall by 9%.

The communications giant – which recently underwent its fifth change of ownership in a little over a decade – yesterday reported adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of €327 million for the six months to the end of December, which was a 3% fall on the same period the previous year.

Group revenue of €933m marked a 9% year-on-year reduction. Revenue at Eircom’s fixed-line business fell by 10% to €723m and revenues at Meteor – its mobile telephony division – fell by 7% to €239m.
