THE IRISH market yesterday fell 39.37 points to 2,862.71. Trading was quiet throughout the day with little major newsflow.

The euro neared its nine-month low against the dollar as markets awaited news of the meeting of eurozone finance ministers over Greece’s debt problems.

In the financial sector, AIB shed 5.5c to €1.06, Bank of Ireland slipped 5.9c to €1.21, Irish Life & Permanent tacked on 10.7c to €2.63, while insurance company FBD Holdings was unchanged at €6.
