Consumers urged to buy Irish to show support of agri-food industry

CONSUMERS have been urged by Agri Aware to be mindful of the 270,000 jobs supported by the agri-food industry when shopping this Christmas.

Agri Aware chairman Máiréad Lavery said consumers who buy Irish are giving the gift of support to farming families and local agri-food industry.

She said 2009 has been a challenging year for all. However, consumers who act with festive spirit can support livelihoods by buying quality Irish produce this season.
