Foals cost on average €2,000 to breed, conference is told

NEW figures from Teagasc show that it costs more than €2,000 on average to breed a foal, a conference was told in Athlone yesterday.

The Teagasc national equine conference addressed the sometimes thorny question of how much it costs to breed and produce a foal.

With the financial returns from horse breeding and production having nose-dived in the last year, the issue has assumed a new importance.
