ICMSA urges Ireland to nominate right person for commission role

IRELAND should put forward a nominee for the agriculture and rural development portfolio in the next European Commission, says the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association.

France wants Ireland to lobby for the portfolio in a bid to protect EU farm subsidies and the interests of farmers in the world trade talks.

French and Irish diplomats are said to have had “informal contacts” on the issue.
