Agri-food sector losing fewer jobs

A LOWER percentage of jobs are being lost in the agri-food sector compared with other industries, according to a new report.

It revealed that in the past 12 months, agriculture and food businesses reduced the size of their workforce by an average of 5%, only half the national average of 10%.

The report, The Agriculture and Food Industry – Bigger, Brighter, Tougher, was launched yesterday by economist Jim Power and Agri Aware, the farming and food educational body.
