Interest rates to remain at historic low

INTEREST rates are likely to remain at record low levels for at least the next few months as the European Central Bank (ECB) decides not to make any adjustments.

This was the third month running that official rates were left unchanged at their record low of 1% which was again described as the “appropriate” level.

Experts said European Central Bank president Jean Claude Trichet indicated the economy may recover sooner than previously anticipated and signalled the bank is unlikely to provide any further stimulus.
