Shares turnaround as ISEQ rises

SHARES on the Irish market fell sharply in early trading, mirroring their European counterparts. However, as US markets opened in the afternoon a European-wide upturn began to take affect. The ISEQ index finish the session up 4.41 points at 2,697.78.

Bank stocks were mixed as Bank of Ireland made the slightest of gains, adding 0.1c to €1.501. AIB and Irish Life and Permanent slipping 1.6c and 0.3c respectively to €1.284 and €3.00.

CRH was the leading mover both in the construction sector and the market, tacking on 24c to €17.95. Food producers Kerry Group and Glanbia were both in positive territory improving 35c and 3c to €16.35 and €2.13.
