Shares hold steady in trading

The ISEQ index shed 16.88 points to close at 2,707.35 as shares held quite steady throughout the day.

European shares rose with gains in banking and mining stocks. In the US worries about the fiscal outlook persisted.

AIB added 5c to €1.33, Bank of Ireland gained 1c to €1.46, Irish Life & Permanent dipped 2c to €3.00, while FBD Holdings increased 4c to €6.93.
