RYANAIR’S decision to scrap airport desks and charge passengers €5 for checking-in online will result in a €220 million boost for the company.

From next Wednesday the airline is forcing all passengers to check-in online at a cost of €5 per flight.

However those opting for free fares and fares costing €1 or €5 will be exempt from the fee. With the airline expected to carry 67 million passengers this year and half of these passengers opting for non-promotional flights the airline is set to rake in about €170m in 12 months from the extra fee.
