AIB expects bad debts to hit €4.3bn

AIB has increased the money it has set aside for bad loans to €4.3 billion, citing a deteriorating marketplace.

The bank said two months ago that under a “stress scenario” the provision would be €4bn in 2009.

It said conditions across its markets have worsened and there will be further pressure on the bad debt provision charge for full year 2009.
