Market bucks trend with slight loss

THE Dublin market recorded a slight loss yesterday, thus bucking the European-wide trend where bourses made gains. The ISEQ index shed 11.25 points on the day to close at 2,098.68.

Despite the market as a whole losing ground, the financial stocks managed to move on. AIB and Bank of Ireland added 7c and 5.2c to 59c and 40.7c. Irish Life and Permanent followed suit tacking on 15c to 90c.

In construction, CRH rose 3c as the company announced that it had received over 94% take up of its recent rights issue from shareholders. Grafton Group also made ground moving on 1.9c to €1.60. Kingspan on the other hand slipped 5c to €2.60.
