Shaky market again loses value

THE ISEQ index yesterday closed down 93.53 points at 2,076.55. The Anglo Irish Bank annual report revealed that the bank lent €451m to 10 long-standing customers and is writing off €300m of this having recouped just €83m.

Shaky market again loses value

The report confirmed that the security for the €300m was in the form of shares in the bank itself.

The banking stocks had another poor day. AIB dipped 4c to 60c, Bank of Ireland fell 2c to 34c, Irish Life & Permanent dived 22c to €1.04, while insurance group FBD Holdings jumped 33c to €7.95.
