Market down over bank doubts

THE ISEQ index was dragged lower yesterday by the main banks as investors awaited details of the possible €8 billion in capital injection from the Government and as talks on cutting public sector pay and spending collapsed.

The Dublin market closed down 2.61 points at 2,321.12.

In the financial sector, AIB finished at €1.15, down 17c, Bank of Ireland weakened 5c to 58c, Irish Life & Permanent fell 10c to €1.45, while FBD Holdings decreased 33c to €7.87.
