THE ISEQ index bucked the trend throughout Europe yesterday closing up 48.59 points at 2,521.35 points.

Shares across Europe fell throughout the day with worries over more significant losses at major banks. However, a rise in the price of crude oil on expectations of a production cut lifted energy stocks.

In the financial sector, AIB fell 6c to €1.84, Bank of Ireland dipped 6c to 86c, Irish Life & Permanent dived 24c to €1.46, Anglo Irish bank jumped 9c to 39c, while FBD Holdings was up 5c at €7.60.
