THE ISEQ index yesterday plunged 240.06 points to close at 3,735.95.

Market dives on US uncertainty

The market remained weak amid political bickering over the details of the rescue plan in the US with some analysts saying it is rapidly becoming a matter of indifference as the market gets back to reacting to impending recession and the continuing credit crisis.

In the financial sector, AIB finished down 2c at €5.88, Bank of Ireland weakened 57c to €4.12, Irish Life & Permanent declined 43c to €5.97, while Anglo Irish Bank dived 65c to €4.05.
