Market climb led by banks

THE ISEQ index rose yesterday following another turbulent week in world markets. The Irish exchange closed up 156.35 at 4,359.98.

Market climb led by banks

In the banking sector, AIB led the pack gaining 32c to €8.22. Bank of Ireland was 9.1c higher at €5.26, Anglo climbed 7c to €5.40 with Irish Life & Permanent rising 18c to €5.25.

In construction, Grafton Group jumped 15c to €3.95 ahead of its interim results next week. CRH soared 96c to finish at €17.01 on the day, while Kingspan also gained 66c to close at €7.30.
